Okay, first, some squee! I ordered the first Higurashi Kizuna game, because I don't give a damn if I can't read Japanese I will find a translation if I have to!

Here are pics of the case and a couple in-game shot: (Athena, translation plz XD)

This game is one of four!

Main screen (on my DSi XL)! It's like a book. ^_^ It's so mean because the main pages have English but once you're in a selection, it' all Japanese! It's not like Ouendan, which helps you figure out where you want to go with little icons with the writing!

And here I am having a conversation with Rena! In a couple sentences I make her blush but I don't know whyyyyy XD I was just testing the game out - I'll look seriously for a translation later. <3

I'd originally meant to do a post on my gaming stuff a long time ago (and actually it started as something I was gonna email Athena), and yesterday I was finally motivated to take pics of my gaming area.

First, the room is small, so I couldn't get the whole wall in the shot:

Here you see all the oldest games we own in the upper left (Genesis, Atari, NES, SNES, N64,), then PS1 games and PSP games going down the shelf, and a bunch of Gameboys/advances/psps too, haha. Oh, and also our manga is on the bottom shelf XD Everything on the shelves is in alphabetical order, by the way. Note the fact that as a teenager, Steve papered this entire room with Game Informer pages, and posters. I added to it too!

The middle shelf is all the PS2 and PS3 games we own. Yum!

The far right shelf is Gamecube/XBox/XBox 360/Wii and DS games we own (with PC and GameBoy/GBA games on the farthest right). Also if you squint you can see our little figurine collection at the end of the DS games. XD It includes Etna and Laharl from Disgaea, sent free from NIS with games ordered around Black Friday (a complete and pleasant surprise), Nagato from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and some Mario characters!

Finally, the TVs (damn, I forgot to take a pic of the computer!):

If you look closely in the flat screen, you can see me reflecting in it, standing on the couch, haha! So, we have two tvs and you can see part of our mini fridge in the bottom right corner, and next to that is a computer desk. Our main systems (PS2, XBox 360, PS3, and Wii) are in the middle there, with the original XBox just taking up space (and our second PS2 out of the room being used for DDR purposes). And our older systems on the right, almost always hooked up to the small tv since we use them less. And you can see part of the Moogle "poster" I knit Steve for our 1-year anniversary, lol! Ignore the cord jumble, we accidentally let both our PS3 controllers go dead so we were charging them!

Broken down, these our our games, with me highlighting my faves (taken from Backloggery.com):

As you can see, we have lots of games.

Ignoring the oldest systems like Genesis and Atari, the VAST majority of those games are games we bought with full intention to play. Not just some random sports game to pad the numbers. Like, we thought about it and spent good money on it-type games. Steve's beaten a full 605 of those games, and he takes beating games seriously. He's far more dedicated than I am, I've beaten less than 100 over my entire lifetime :P

Okay, I'd need some vague context (even just descriptions of what happened physically) since I'm not good enought to infer context from a snippet of context, and I can't read one of the kanji that's repeated (like can't READ it from the blur, not can't read it from not knowing what it is). But, the transcription goes something like this:

I
[[Cont. from something else, I gather?]]

…hontou ni kaigaishii, ii yatsu na no da.

[[Really brave/gallant, good guy aren’t you/isn’t he. (Of note: “yatsu” is in katakana, so it feels really strong, and therefore a little rough/rude.)]]

[son toki(?) ya -- iteku]

(Yeah, I can‘t read enough of this one to give you even an idea. =/ I‘m pretty sure the first kanji is “toki“ meaning “time“ but I can‘t read that one kanji at all, so I have no idea what it is.)

[Ke, ---kun ---dai. Itsumo motte te ageteru no ni…]

[[Geez, ---kun is so cold (to me)! Even though I’m always holding onto this. (This is weird, because “motte” is a conjugated form of “motsu” meaning “to hold” but when combined with “ageteru” which is a combined form of “ageru” (conjugated to the -te form) and “iru” (it functions similar to “-ing” when connected with verbs) means that it is something that is being given to another person. This implies that the thing that is being held is for the sake of the listener, rather than for the speaker’s own purposes. “No ni” at the end implies a sort of exasperation, like “even though I’m doing this, you’re doing THAT or not appreciating my efforts.” So, I’m not sure what it’s supposed to express.)]]

[Sakusaku --iteku. Kirikiri --iteku.]

[[Flaky something. At once/quickly something. (Haha, that same damn kanji. If you could write it out, and take a picture I could find it for you, and tell you what it is. Or you can try looking it up by it’s radicals yourself. =D)]]

Sorry I can't do more. It's weird to just have a snippet of conversation to translate. @_@ But, it should kinda give you a vague idea, I hope. XD

That is an amazing display of games. O_O Those shelves look like my bookshelves, including the slight bowing from the weight of the games! XD I'm sort of impressed by the sheer amount of posters. O_O No, make that really impressed. It makes our room look SO BORING. D=

Ahaha, I mostly just teasing about the translation ^_^ And I assume you're playing as Keiichi-kun in this game? I'm not 100% but I think so. Reading your translation reminds me though that Higurashi is... a little odd. For example, Rena often says things like, "Kana? Kana?" at the end of her sentences, and Mion refers to herself as an "old geezer" or "old man," so it would make sense that the way Rena is speaking is confusing. According to Play-Asia, the game's at about a 5th-6th grade reading level. I also just took a random screenshot based on her facial expression, which didn't come out that well anyway (cell phone pic), so I had no idea where in the conversation we were!

Hahaha I believe it with the books vs. games! As for the walls, Steve says he took an entire day covering the room, even taking the time to paste over the door and door frame, and cut out where the door opens! Since then, he's gotten some where there are a few posters over posters, etc. He was very dedicated O_O
