The Blizzard of 2010

As you may know, the Midwest and Northeast got the joy of a blizzard this weekend. As I live in Minnesota, and Minnesota is in the Midwest, we GOT the blizzard. My city got about 21 inches of snow.
Our first photo would be the storm itself.

Note the height of the bushes you can see. Also note that this is taken from my living room window (which is an upstairs room), and you can see nothing but white.

Here's the FIRST time we shoveled on Saturday. Here's Steve looking silly with his pink bandanna and skinny jeans, as we could not locate any of his "boy pants." The wind was brutal. I'd say the first time we shoveled, the snow was about 6-8" high on average, with drifts making some places worse than others. The second time was at least a foot, with some places at 14".

Here's a perfect snow drift example. Many lols! It was hanging over a foot off the wagon.

Steve was obsessed with whether or not the plows were going to come out, as he had to work on Saturday night. This is the plowing we got. A WALL trapping us in the cul de sac. The wall was at least 2-3 feet high. Thanks plow guys!!! A nice gentleman in our cul de sac tried to snow blow paths for tires, but it was mostly futile. Steve could not get out of the driveway with his mom's 4WD truck. We were officially snowed in!

Sunday Morning: We shovel some more. My hair is permanently frozen across my face. My glasses are useless because they are fogged and wet, so I took them off. It is still windy, and it is now in the single digits for temperature. I am in my full snow garb - if only I knew where my snowpants were!
Finally, here's some video evidence for your enjoyment:
Part 1: Leah Tries Her Best to Stay One Step Ahead of the Weather
And Part 2: Leah Gives you a Tour of the Driveway. PLEASE IGNORE MY NASTY-ASS FACE because I don't know how to manage a camera. And I'm sorry about that chunk of hair filled with snow attached to my face. It's over my left eye, which I don't really use for vision and therefore NEVER notice when it's being obnoxious like that.
I also apologize that you likely can understand half of what I am saying because I talk fast and mumbly. And yes, I basically talk like that all the time. I am trying to show you the bushes as of Sunday morning around 8am. And it's still windy. By this evening you could see like three pathetic sticks poking out. XD
So there you have it! oops! One more for the temp on the way to work for me a couple hours ago:

In case you can't tell from my blurry cell pic, it is -3 degrees Fahrenheit right now D:
Ah yes, enjoy my accent, LJ Land!
So there you have it! We've been busy. And taking all our free time to huddle up in the house and hibernate.
I played a little bit of WoW, got my toon to level 14! Only, I have all the RAM evar (4GB) but an old processor, so I need a new comp if I'm ever going to do instances!

Date: 2010-12-15 05:18 am (UTC)We haven't really got much snow here yet but it's been retarded cold. Not the coldest ever, but still unpleasant. The coldest temperature I've ever experiences was -21*F.
You definitely have a unique accent. I've been out in the midwest for a while now and I haven't really heard anything like it.

Date: 2010-12-16 09:11 am (UTC)I think the coldest I've experienced sans windchill was between -35 and -40*, 2 years ago. The schools even closed because of the risk of frostbite (I was working at a school at the time)!
In my previous relationship I always shoveled and it pissed me off. But Steve and I make it fun instead of grumbling, because it has to be done either way, so we try to make it a silly thing :P
