Taking forever to write journal entries yet again. STILL haven't written my California entry...

Two of the weekends in September Steve and I stayed the weekend in Madison, though ostensibly we were there just to crash and had other things we were doing.

The first weekend, we went to Distant Worlds in Chicago, as I mentioned. Then last weekend we went to see Stephen and Owen King in Milwaukee.

Guys. Stephen King NEVER tours. He never does book signings. He doesn't need to! He doesn't care about that stuff! BUT THIS YEAR HE DECIDED TO. And! He decided to give every attendee a copy of their new book on the way out. Where UP TO 16% of them were signed by the authors (the venue said "up to 400 copies" so we don't actually know how many copies were signed). When they were talking about signing the books, SK (he calls himself Steve!!! But that would be confusing if I referred to him as Steve bc of my boyfriend) said that his son would nudge him once during each event and say, "Make this one really small." and said that ONE of the books had small signatures from each of them.

The line to get in was INSANE, and the event was totally packed. As usual, I got Steve and myself really good seats in the lower balcony.

The event was them talking about the book, each reading an excerpt, talking about their life, and SK showed everyone pictures of his Corgi Molly, who is Facebook famous because SK refers to her as The Thing of Evil.

There were some audience-allowed questions, but they weren't screened, so half of them were somewhere between stupid and downright insulting (one guy had the gall to "give SK the HONOR to sign his 'first edition' copy of Carrie" to which he graciously said no but I would have been rude af). But! One fan asked him who his favorite character was, and he said Lisey Landon from Lisey's Story. Which happens to be my favorite SK book of all time. The one I have read every single year since it came out in 2006. That I always tell people they have to lie to me about if they don't like it because it means that much to me. My heart <3

So. On the way out, Steve and I were in line to get our books. I had two immediate thoughts: "We're gonna get a signed copy" and "It's not gonna be me."

I opened my copy and... blank. Despair. Disappointment.

Steve opens his copy and...

IT'S SIGNED!!!!! Omg. And a lady behind us told us we got the small signature. I asked how she knew, and she said she saw other signed copies and the signatures were huge. Omg. Guys. We got the tiny signed version.

Just to see, Steve looked up how much copies of these signed books have sold for on eBay. And they are like $350 minimum. Not that I would ever, EVER sell a signed SK book. Once in a lifetime, omg. I cannot believe how lucky we are. I'm still in awe. Thank god for Steve.

Sunday we played just a little bit of ITG, but then Sean, Ben, Aida, Steve and I all went to the local apple orchard and picked some yummy apples. The best part though was getting a GIANT pottery bowl for FIFTEEN DOLLARS because it didn't have a price tag on it — I kept asking the girl "ARE YOU SURE BC I WILL PAY MORE THAN THAT" and she insisted I buy it for $15, and also eating insanely good caramel apples. OH AND HONEY WITH THE HONEY COMB OMGGGG

K sorry about the picture size I'm guessing? I'm trying out the new post editor and I cant see the option to modify the size? Am I just dumb? If anyone else is using it let me know if I'm just missing something. I also can't seem to modify the LJ cut it inserted for me when I added the pics. Annoying.

On a side note, on this little trip I got my period for the second time since I got my birth control removed in May. I keep my luna cup in my work bag AT ALL TIMES and of course I forgot to bring it on this trip, so I went to Walgreens and bought a Diva cup... and guys. The Diva cup is far superior. FAR. SUPERIOR. in feel, ease of use, and flexibility. At least I have a backup now.

Haha, I kept telling my boyfriend that *I* was lucky even though *he* was the one who got the signed copy. I was so excited I (very uncharacteristically) began to dance around and jump up and down in the middle of the crowd and I could not stop making squee noises. VERY unusual for me XD
