End of an era

After 16 years, I finally bit the bullet, and changed my username. I outgrew it a long time ago, after I stopped being a teenager in the Neopets and AIM era (where I first began using Vixenofflames).

When LJ first made the waitlist for purged usernames, I got on the list for Eventual (the moniker I now use for my knitting stuff - which I may want to change down the road too), and then Sprite after my twitch name.

My Instagram name has been miss_ljv for awhile, and I really like it. With PSN finally allowing you to change your name (my old one was one I was completely unattached to, made in 2010). Somehow, unfortunately miss_ljv was taken already, but I just added an underscore at the end and now it looks like I’m emphasizing my initials.

So yeah. It might take a little getting used to by my longtime LJ friends, but it’ll settle :)

Oh wow!! It will take some time to get it into my head, but congrats on changing. :)
I doubt I'll ever change my username, but never say never. ^^

Yeah, I always wonder what it's like to have a username that doesn't feel tired after awhile. I've always been the type to want to change things (I can't tell you how many emails I've had over the years!), but I never wanted to pay to change my username (Pay??? To change the letters in my name???? XD) but I really felt like it was something I needed to do. It's gonna take some getting used to for me as well! 16 years is a long time to have the same username! When I tried to sign into LJ a minute ago I typed vixenofflames :P

Usually I need something new for pretty much everything in my life every few years .... but for some reason I don't grow tired of my username. XD

Ha! I didn't even notice! Probably because it's the same one as on Instagram.

I think I'm more attached to my username now than I was when I started using it because now it has history (LJ was first in 2001 and then I just started using it everywhere because it's easier than trying to remember which username goes to what account).

Totally, I’m jealous of people who find one they like and stick with it across accounts!

The drawback, however, is once someone finds one account, they can find all the others fairly easily when, in some cases, you don't want people who have access to one to have access to others.

Ah yes, VERY true. That makes a lot of sense, and like if you experience harassment or stalking or something, then it's like you gotta change everything :/
