I suspected the likelihood of getting a uti (or as is the actual case with me these days, “urethral trauma”) was significant, as punishment for the amount of sex Steve and I have been having (which is a lot and often). And I was not wrong. Today was mostly spent in the bathroom not getting any relief. At least with a real UTI, the meds actually help because the problem is bacteria and irritation. Unfortunately, “urethral trauma” is... physical. Cool. Oh! In addition, I got my 4th period since May ‘17. It’s been light enough to wear Thinx, but as I said, I had ordered more and they’re nowhere to be found.
Soooo that’s been my day. Miserable and in pain. When I was able to recover enough to think, which entails waiting an unknown amount of time for the pain to subside, I continued listening to Mindy Kaling, watching Chef’s Table, and knitting on my shawl. The day wasn’t a *total* bust.
When Steve got home, we ordered a pizza* and started watching The Incredibles, because I had bought us tickets like a month ago to see the 2nd one. It was really funny to watch the first one and think about how, at the time the movie came out, it was state-of-the-art animation AND the humor was fresh and unique and funny. Still a good movie, but there were several things that didn’t quite age well, including police officers shooting at a black man.
Once we finished, we had about 10 minutes to get to the theatre before the 2nd one started. We live that distance away so it was no biggie, but omg was the theatre PACKED. Like, the parking lot was INSANE with people driving like idiots and fighting over non-spots, and I discovered that at the end of the lot there were several spots. I parked and Steve admitted that I was 1000% right to buy tickets ahead of time** and made a funny comment about hurrying to get seats, when I had to remind the old fossil that when I bought the tickets, I picked out our seats too. Whew, no stress. We got a drink and I got a snack because I was still hungry, and we settled in just in time for the previews.
The animated short, Bao, was so damn cute and of course made me tear up. The guy next me said he didn’t get it, and Steve and I marveled at the insane food animation.
The movie was quite good, and I did like it more than the first one. It was funny and cute, and I was nerdily impressed that they were around the right age for the math that Dash was learning (percents/fractions/decimals and 1-step equations).
*We were on a time crunch, and for the first time in history, given no lead-in or prompting whatsoever, the pizza guy launched into a monologue about losing his expensive rayban glasses and hiding it from his wife??????
**Steve told me it was weird to order tickets ahead of time, and I informed him that not buying tickets and picking seats long before the movie was outdated and lame. Ben even talked about this issue way back in 2013 when pre-buying tickets was a new thing. It’s like, sorry grandpa, I don’t feel like showing up to a movie HOPING I won’t get stuck in the front row by myself. Gone are the days of needing to settle for crappy seats because you showed up late. This is the future, where you can choose the best seats ahead of time from the comfort of your own home.
