The Blizzard of 2010
As you may know, the Midwest and Northeast got the joy of a blizzard this weekend. As I live in Minnesota, and Minnesota is in the Midwest, we GOT the blizzard. My city got about 21 inches of snow.
Our first photo would be the storm itself.

Note the height of the bushes you can see. Also note that this is taken from my living room window (which is an upstairs room), and you can see nothing but white.

Here's the FIRST time we shoveled on Saturday. Here's Steve looking silly with his pink bandanna and skinny jeans, as we could not locate any of his "boy pants." The wind was brutal. I'd say the first time we shoveled, the snow was about 6-8" high on average, with drifts making some places worse than others. The second time was at least a foot, with some places at 14".

Here's a perfect snow drift example. Many lols! It was hanging over a foot off the wagon.

Steve was obsessed with whether or not the plows were going to come out, as he had to work on Saturday night. This is the plowing we got. A WALL trapping us in the cul de sac. The wall was at least 2-3 feet high. Thanks plow guys!!! A nice gentleman in our cul de sac tried to snow blow paths for tires, but it was mostly futile. Steve could not get out of the driveway with his mom's 4WD truck. We were officially snowed in!

Sunday Morning: We shovel some more. My hair is permanently frozen across my face. My glasses are useless because they are fogged and wet, so I took them off. It is still windy, and it is now in the single digits for temperature. I am in my full snow garb - if only I knew where my snowpants were!
Finally, here's some video evidence for your enjoyment:
Part 1: Leah Tries Her Best to Stay One Step Ahead of the Weather
And Part 2: Leah Gives you a Tour of the Driveway. PLEASE IGNORE MY NASTY-ASS FACE because I don't know how to manage a camera. And I'm sorry about that chunk of hair filled with snow attached to my face. It's over my left eye, which I don't really use for vision and therefore NEVER notice when it's being obnoxious like that.
I also apologize that you likely can understand half of what I am saying because I talk fast and mumbly. And yes, I basically talk like that all the time. I am trying to show you the bushes as of Sunday morning around 8am. And it's still windy. By this evening you could see like three pathetic sticks poking out. XD
So there you have it! oops! One more for the temp on the way to work for me a couple hours ago:

In case you can't tell from my blurry cell pic, it is -3 degrees Fahrenheit right now D:
Ah yes, enjoy my accent, LJ Land!
So there you have it! We've been busy. And taking all our free time to huddle up in the house and hibernate.
I played a little bit of WoW, got my toon to level 14! Only, I have all the RAM evar (4GB) but an old processor, so I need a new comp if I'm ever going to do instances!

And for the record, I could understand you just fine, even the part where you mumbled about how high the snow was (before you starting using yourself as the measuring stick XD which is how I totally measure things half the time "Uh, well, it's about two and a half Mes. Yes, 2 and a half Athenas"). Though, *blink blink* you sound Canadian! =O Have you been secretly Canadian this entire time?
Though, maybe I'm just not as familiar with the Mid-west accent as I thought I was. I guess it you aren't around something all the time, it's harder to tell. Some Massachusetts folk thought my brother Jeff and I had TEXAN accents. We were amazed. We don't have anything LIKE southern accents. But, I guess they just weren't used to hearing Californian accents. Though, it's really just "West coast" accents. I haven't noticed anyone in Oregon talking differently than we do. =/
Which brings me back to my original point of: ZOMG THATZ A LOT OF ZNOW! O_O

That exact fact, that I have a heavy accent in the video, is why I pointed it out. I guess I never see myself on video these days, but I was surprised at how "northern" I sounded. XD I think the Canadian accent has more pull in MN and ND than, say, WI or MI, but having never spent a lot of time there, I don't know for sure. :P
As for Californian accents, I also attributed those as "non-accented" people - like Hollywood people. I know that Hollywood people *have* accents, but it's not very definable to my ears. I know Brad Pitt has an accent though. And I love it. Do you know his accent? And bahhhahaha Texan. *wipes tears from eyes*
You are welcome to visit!! ^_^ Come play in the snow~!

Yes. I often think of myself, and Californians, as having the Non-Accent of English. I mean, there has to be a reason why, unless their accent is very pronounced or they're making an effort, everyone who sings has a Californian accent. Brad Pitt's accent isn't much of an accent so much as the way he speaks. I can actually mimic it, in a higher pitched girly way. =D I've been told it's kinda creepy. >.>
Seriously! We were like, "WHAT?!?!!?!?! OH MY GOD, HAVE YOU NEVER *HEARD* A TEXAN ACCENT!?!? MY GOD!!!!" I swear. I haven't been that bizarrely insulted ever before or ever since. I find southern accents (of all sorts) to be the LEAST attractive of all accents (with Irish often taking the place of Most Awesome, because let's face it...Irish accents are hawt). D=
Oh god. Snow. It's cold and wet like rain, with the added bonus of getting in my WAY. D= How could I possibly cope?! I'd probably explode. Which, hey, may take care of the whole snow problem, if I did it on a sort of sub-nuclear level....

I always feel like I'm going to asplode from the cold. I was looking at the snow the other day, with its whiteness and the plentifulness of it all, and I was not fooled! I know it LOOKS pretty, but it's actually where frozen and death are experienced! It's unpleasant and evilllll!

I'm happy we're "warming" up to the 40s and staying there. Whew. Sunny days! =D

We haven't really got much snow here yet but it's been retarded cold. Not the coldest ever, but still unpleasant. The coldest temperature I've ever experiences was -21*F.
You definitely have a unique accent. I've been out in the midwest for a while now and I haven't really heard anything like it.

I think the coldest I've experienced sans windchill was between -35 and -40*, 2 years ago. The schools even closed because of the risk of frostbite (I was working at a school at the time)!
In my previous relationship I always shoveled and it pissed me off. But Steve and I make it fun instead of grumbling, because it has to be done either way, so we try to make it a silly thing :P
